Back in 1993, a few Forbes College kids got together and created a new group known as ‘Inn Tune’. They started out singing “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” in the dining hall, but gradually expanded, gaining new members and relocating performances to 1879 Arch. In 1994 the group picked a new name and mascot the classic Disney (or is it Rudyard Kipling?) character Shere Khan, the fierce tiger from The Jungle Book.
Since then, we’ve become one of the most well-established groups on campus, celebrating our 20th anniversary this past year. We perform at various events on and off campus, arrange our own music and release biennial studio albums; luckily, we still find time for international tours, annual excursions to the Hamptons, and celebrations everywhere from Prospect Street to Thai Village Restaurant. Most importantly, Shere Khan represents the intersection between music and good friends.
